Cleveland Ohio – September 18, 2006 -- Efficient Channel Coding Inc. (ECC), a wholly-owned subsidiary of ViaSat Inc. (Nasdaq:VSAT), has successfully concluded a development and demonstration of its second generation Digital Video Broadcast over Satellite (DVB-S2) technology for the Air Force Global Broadcast Service (GBS).

Both systems are owned and operated by Horizon Satellite Services and provides coverage of the Middle Eastern region via the Stellar Group teleport in Köln, Germany. The first solution is a high-speed point to point link based on ECC's DVB-S2 technology.

With this purchase ViaSat will increase its depth in the new S2 version of the DVB-RCS satellite broadband standard and will become the supplier of modem chips for the Asian IPSTAR spot-beam satellite system.
Cleveland, Ohio – September 9th 2005 -- Efficient Channel Coding (ECC) announced today they have received a contract from the Defense Information System Agency (DISA) to demonstrate the bandwidth savings that can be achieved for the Global Broadcast Service (GBS) by using the DVB-S2 waveform. The effort is funded by OSD’s Defense Acquisition Challenge Program (DACP) with the objective to introduce new technology into operational programs.

WINDS is a research and development project to establish the world's most advanced information and telecommunication network and is scheduled for launch in 2005. It is part of the "e-Japan Priority Program" which was established by the Information Technology (IT) Strategy Headquarters of the Japanese government.

Cleveland, Ohio - February 28, 2003 - Efficient Channel Coding (ECC) will continue an Strategic Alliance Agreement (SAA) with Boeing Satellite Systems (BSS) to develop high-speed advanced bandwidth efficient communications systems for both space-based and terrestrial applications.
Under the terms of the Agreement, ECC is working with BSS to develop products and identify opportunities in both the Government and commercial sectors. The SAA covers a number of joint development activities already underway.
