Efficient Channel Coding Announces Availability of World’s First DVB-S2 Based Broadband Satellite Interactive System, iSatLite™
Cleveland, Ohio – March 16th 2005 - Efficient Channel Coding (ECC) announced today that it has started shipping
iSatLite, the world’s first DVB-S2 based interactive satellite communications system.
Powered by the new DVB-S2 standard in the forward link, iSatLite provides the highest bandwidth efficiency in the
industry. In addition to near Shannon-Limit performance in both directions, iSatLite offers many important
features that enhance overall system performance and add value. These features include integrated VoIP header
compression, VoIP QoS, lossless data compression, traffic shaping, integrated performance enhanced proxy (PEP), full
featured router capabilities, internal power D.C. supplies (capable of powering up to 5W of RF output power), and
more. Standard interfaces allow iSatLite to support C-band, Ku-band and Ka-band satellite networks. Designed
to cost effectively support small to medium sized networks, iSatLite’s low cost Hub enables the most cost effective total
solution across a wide range of network sizes.
“We are pleased to be able to offer iSatLite to the broadband satellite communications market”, said Mark Vanderaar, CEO of
ECC. “iSatLite represents a significant step forward in both bandwidth efficiency and cost effectiveness. The
system allows our satellite service provider and equipment distributor partners to maximize the capacity and functionality
of their solutions while minimizing cost.”
