Cleveland Ohio – July 26, 2006 -- Efficient
Channel Coding (ECC) today announced the
production availability of the ECC3100 DVB-S2
Receiver Chip. The chip, called SkyPHY, offers
advanced capabilities in the DVB-S2 standard. This
includes operation from 0.1 to 45 Megasymbols per
second, support of 16-APSK modulation, support of
Adaptive and Variable Coding & Modulation (ACM and
VCM), and advanced transport processing. These
advanced features make SkyPHY the ideal solution for
professional broadcast receivers, VSAT networks,
satellite news gathering, and Single Channel Per
Carrier (SCPC) modems.
The SkyPHY chip was also recently successfully
demonstrated at the RAI Research Centre to verify
the status of DVB-S2 technology. To achieve this,
the DVB-S2 ad-hoc group has launched a laboratory
test campaign, with the task to verify the
compliancy of available equipment to the standard,
and the effective gain in performance with respect
to the first generation system DVB-S.
Samples and an evaluation board / design kit are
available now. Production orders are also being
accepted. Please contact

Corporation, provides real world digital
communications solutions for some of the world’s
most advanced networks. We design and deliver
satellite communication systems, broadband
communication ICs, and customized commercial and
government solutions. Our technology innovations
increase the efficiency of today’s most advanced

About RAI Research Centre:
The RAI Research Centre is a complex of Laboratories
divided in specialised areas which enable coverage
of nearly the whole gamut of technical issues
relevant to the different sectors of the
radio-television system (production, transmission,
broadcasting, receiver end). Its main objective is
the survey of the technological innovation aimed at
the creation of new services and the design of
innovative technical models for the optimisation of
the productive resources. It actively contributes to
the work of international bodies where the issues
relevant to technical innovation are dealt with,
industrial policy strategies are debated and the
standards are generated.
