Cleveland Ohio – July 20, 2006 -- Efficient
Channel Coding (ECC) today announced the
installation of two DVB-S2 based satellite
solutions. Both systems are owned and operated by
Horizon Satellite Services and provides coverage of
the Middle Eastern region via the Stellar Group
teleport in Köln, Germany. The first solution is a
high-speed point to point link based on ECC's DVB-S2
technology. The second solution is a VSAT network
based on ECC’s DVB-S2 and iSatLite technology.
Both systems operate at non-power limited EIRP
levels on the PAS-12 satellite and achieve over 3
bits/second/Hz bandwidth efficiency using the DVB-S2
16ASPK 8/9 mode in the forward link, and the
iSatLite system provides over 2 bits/second/Hz using
iSatLite’s turbo-code based return link. This
performance is twice the bandwidth efficiency
typically achieved by competing products, and
represents a new milestone in enabling operational
cost savings, which are often the primary
operational expenses for customers. The cost savings
enabled by iSatLite technology rapidly pays for the
cost of the equipment, and maximizes ROI for our
customers.
"Horizon is pleased to work with ECC in establishing
this leading-edge network ” said Subair Mullappally,
Horizon’s Director of VSAT Networks. “We have
examined many VSAT systems, and appreciate the
high-performance and flexibility of ECC’s iSatLite
product”.
