Efficient Channel Coding Announces a Strategic Alliance Agreement (SAA) to Develop Advanced Bandwidth Efficient
Communications Technology
Cleveland, Ohio - February 28, 2003 - Efficient Channel Coding (ECC) will continue an Strategic Alliance Agreement (SAA) with
Boeing Satellite Systems (BSS) to develop high-speed advanced bandwidth efficient communications systems for both space-based
and terrestrial applications.
Under the terms of the Agreement, ECC is working with BSS to develop products and identify opportunities in both the
Government and commercial sectors. The SAA covers a number of joint development activities already underway.
“We are very pleased that this SAA formalizes a business relationship between ECC and BSS that optimally takes advantage of
each company’s core expertise. For ECC, It is of great strategic value to be involved with BSS’s world-class team. We are also
pleased that BSS sees the same value in our advanced Forward Error Correction technology. The development activities covered
under this agreement are already seeing a range of exciting applications that will significantly improve our customer’s
communications networks”, says Mr. Mark Vanderaar, Chief Executive Officer of ECC.
“BSS is very excited about this powerful alliance. This agreement provides the business relationship needed to fully
realize the potential of our team. Together, we can revolutionize the manner in which advanced communication systems are
implemented across a broad range of system solutions. We have already realized strategic technology advances due to the
collaboration of these two world-class teams. Our combined expertise will enable key elements of a network centric
architecture.” Gail Taylor-Smith, BSS Director of Strategic Technology.
