Efficient Channel Coding (ECC) was founded in 1996 with the goal of developing, manufacturing, and marketing advanced communications products and services. On December 1st, 2005 ECC was acquired by Viasat, Inc. (www.viasat.com) and is now operated as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Viasat, Inc.

Since our founding, we have become a world leader in advanced broadband satellite and specialized military communications systems. Through our innovations, ECC has developed a growing range of products that address the needs of networked communications.

We continue to pioneer the latest in satellite systems with our iSatLite broadband satellite system, the first two-way satellite system to employ the interactive services embodied in the new DVB-S2 standard. iSatLite offers small to medium size network operators the highest performance at extremely affordable entry prices. Our SkyPHY products offer component level DVB-S2 receiver solutions implementing all the required features, including the Adaptive Coding & Modulation (ACM) requirements for advanced interactive services.

In conjunction with our partners, ECC has developed the world’s first operational adaptive coding and modulation ground system for internet access via satellite, called iPSTAR. ECC’s “on-the-fly” waveform switching makes this possible and does so without the loss of data or synchronization. The breakthrough technology has dramatically reduced the service costs for satellite systems. Our iPSTAR products are offered by Shin Satellite corporation for adaptive, affordable broadband access via satellite in the Asia-Pacific region.

ECC also offers design and development services for some of the most advanced satellite, optical, and tactical communications systems.
